Ugbelle is a “small” but mighty town, united and rich in culture, history, and heritage. Known as “Ugbelle Aka Nwudere Ehi n’Odu” or the “Land of the Brave,” it has remained peaceful and thriving. The town is home to Comprehensive Secondary School Ugbelle and Community Central School Ugbelle, vibrant markets like Nkwo Market and Afor Eluama, and churches including St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Christian Pentecostal Mission. With around 6,000 taxable adults, the community speaks Igbo and English, and its economy thrives on fishing, agriculture, hunting, sand, and raffia wine production. Comprising several historic villages, Ugbelle’s unity and cultural richness make it a remarkable community.

Meet Our Leadership
Ugbelle’s leadership reflects its strong commitment to community and tradition. At the helm is HRH R. O. Okoro, a respected leader guiding the town with wisdom and integrity, supported by the Eze Cabinet, composed of village and social chiefs who ensure the people’s voices are heard. The Ugbelle Town Union (UTU) drives community development, while the Women Wing and Umuada Association empower women, fostering growth and equality. The Youth Wing nurtures the next generation, ensuring that Ugbelle’s future remains bright and promising.
